BCI Minerals is proud to launch a new values-driven funding initiative with Karratha Senior High School (KSHS) to support positive outcomes in the school community.
The Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) program is designed to reinforce students demonstrating positive behaviours and build a strong school culture.
Through a points-based rewards system, students can earn exciting prizes by demonstrating alignment with the school’s core values of responsibility, respect, and inclusivity. At its heart, the PBS is more than just handing out prizes; it’s about fostering an attractive approach to positive behaviour that students can engage with.
BCI has offered $11,000 in funds, which will help upgrade the school’s rewards shop and enable a range of exciting new prizes, including a bike, gift vouchers, canteen treats and a fishing rod (the most desired reward!).
BCI engaged with the school’s leadership team to identify areas where its funds could be best spent for meaningful impact. This collaborative approach identified the PBS program.
For KSHS, this PBS means more engaged students, a more inclusive learning environment, and better outcomes across the board. For BCI, it represents an impactful opportunity to contribute to long-term positive change, not just in the classroom, but in the broader Karratha community.
BCI Minerals Head of People & External Affairs Tammie Miller said she was proud to support a program that has a genuine meaningful impact.
“As a values-driven organisation, BCI is proud to get involved in a program that mirrors our own commitment to our values,” she said.
“We recognise that social investment performs at its best when it responds to real community needs. By taking a fun approach to recognising positive behaviour, the PBS program plants the seed to create lasting change in families and the wider Karratha community.”
Karratha Senior High School PBS Team Leader Kat Steadman said the PBS program encourages a culture of consistency, accountability and mutual respect between staff and students.
“The program not only supports individual student growth and engagement but also contributes to a more positive school environment,” she said.
“As students carry these values beyond the school gates, the broader community benefits from young people who are more mindful, respectful, and socially responsible.
“We have seen a major increase in our students wanting to earn points and demonstrate the expected behaviours through the sponsorship of our PBS rewards program with BCI.
“Our students have all been extremely excited about the prospect of receiving one of the BCI High Value Rewards, where they can go into the raffle with each 100 points earned through the PBS System. BCI High Value Rewards raffle includes a fishing rod, a bike, a gaming console and various gift vouchers, all to the value of $500 each.
“We're so grateful to BCI for coming on our PBS journey with us and for their continued support to reinforce and encourage positive behaviour here at Karratha SHS.”
