For example, the Mardie Project will provide significant benefits to the State of Western Australia, the Pilbara community and Traditional Owners. In present value terms, Mardie is forecast to contribute Gross Regional Product of $3.9 billion to the northern Australian region over its construction and operating life. Mardie will have a peak construction workforce of approximately 500 people, a permanent operating workforce of more than 200 people and will create additional indirect employment in the Pilbara region.
